Choose a Degree or Certificate for Employment or Transfer

Many El Camino architecture students want to start their career as soon as possible. Others work toward a bachelor’s degree at a four-year college or university. We can help you reach either goal.

Architecture Associate of Science (AS) Degree

An architecture degree from El Camino will prepare you to transfer. Or you can use your degree to enter a career after graduating. We will help you make the choice that’s best for you.

• Practice manual and computer aided drafting (CAD) fundamentals, three-dimensional drawing, model making, and structural analysis of buildings.
• Learn to interpret the Uniform Building Code and local planning and zoning ordinances.
• Train in accordance with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) certification criteria.
• Explore the worldwide history of architecture and interpret buildings in terms of their religious, social, economic, and political context.
• Start your journey toward a bachelor’s degree or a career, and even graduate study.

Architecture Certificate of Achievement

A certificate in architecture from El Camino will prepare you to enter the industry as an entry-level CAD draftsperson in an architecture firm.

• Practice manual and computer aided drafting (CAD) fundamentals, three-dimensional drawing, model-making, and structural analysis of buildings.
• Learn to interpret the Uniform Building Code and local planning and zoning ordinances.
• Train in accordance with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) certification criteria.
• Discover how architecture shapes the social and urban environment.

Pursue an Entry-Level Architecture Job or Further Education

As an El Camino architecture graduate, you’ll be ready to start work in an architecture firm, or you can pursue a bachelor’s degree at a university. We’ll help you gain the hands-on skills and industry knowledge needed for any career you choose.

• Choose classes that explore the art and science of architecture, such as the history of architecture, computer aided architectural drafting, building information modeling, three-dimensional illustration, architectural color rendering techniques and more.
• Pursue a career as an architect, drafter, architectural technologist, building control surveyor, CAD technician, interior and spatial designer, urban planner, and more.
• Careers associated with this program have a salary range from $39,000 to $86,000 with an average salary of $59,000.

Pursue Architecture Experience Beyond the Classroom

As an El Camino architecture student, you’ll have many opportunities to explore your interests outside of your classwork.

• Join clubs such as the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS), National Organization of Minority Architecture Students (NOMAS), the El Camino College Architecture Club, and more.
• Network with architecture professionals and participate in tours of notable buildings in the area.
